PRIVACY BOUNDARIES
Originals stay original. Encryption stays at the edge.
The product is intentionally narrow: preserve encrypted original files for retrieval without turning them into a browsable media library.
No media processing
Original Vault does not compress, transcode, rewrite, or generate previews of the files in a sealed package.
Independent encrypted replica
Sealed packages are held as encrypted data with an independently managed encrypted replica. This does not replace your own source copy.
RECOVERY IS USER-HELD
Save the recovery code before you seal.
The recovery code is created in your browser and kept by you. Verify that you have saved it before sealing a package.
- An email or account reset cannot reconstruct encryption access.
- If every recovery method is lost, the encrypted originals may be unrecoverable.
- Keep the source originals until you verify a byte-for-byte retrieval in another browser or device.

Can Colworks preview my original files?
No. Original Vault encrypts and decrypts files in your browser. The service does not generate file or photo previews, and it does not compress or transcode originals.
What does retrieval cost after the first 30 days?
Retrieval is free for the first 30 days after sealing. On days 31–90, a one-time US$1.99 retrieval unlock applies to each package. Paying does not extend the day-90 destruction deadline.
What if I lose my recovery code?
The recovery code is created in your browser and must be saved by you. An email or account reset cannot reconstruct encryption access. If every recovery method is lost, the package may be unrecoverable.
