PRACTICAL GUIDE · CONFIRMED DATES ONLY

Track passport, visa and work-authorization dates without uploading documents.

A reminder can help only after you know which date matters. This checklist separates the date you have confirmed from the requirements you still need to verify.

Review DueNest plans

DueNest is a reminder tool. It does not interpret documents, verify immigration status, calculate filing deadlines or provide legal advice.

STEP 01

Separate a confirmed date from a deadline you still need to verify.

A passport expiry date printed on a document, a visa-validity date, an authorized-stay record and a work-authorization date may describe different things. Do not combine them under a vague label such as “immigration deadline.”

First identify the exact record and what its date represents. If the meaning or required action is unclear, check the relevant official source or ask a qualified professional. Add the reminder only after you can describe the date accurately in a short label.

Useful rule: if you cannot finish the sentence “This date is the date shown on…”, keep verifying before you schedule the reminder.

STEP 02

Keep the reminder record minimal.

A reminder normally needs a label, a confirmed date, a timezone and the intervals you choose. It does not need a document image or a full document number.

Date being trackedKeep in the reminderKeep outside the reminder
Passport validity“Passport validity”, confirmed date, timezonePassport image and full number
Visa validityA label that states exactly what you verifiedVisa image and unrelated case details
Work authorizationDocument type label, confirmed date, chosen intervalsDocument scan, account credentials and private case notes

The original record remains the source of truth. A generic label also reduces what may appear in an email notification or on a lock screen.

STEP 03

Build a reminder you can audit later.

  1. Confirm the date and its meaning.Use the relevant record or official source; do not ask the reminder tool to infer it.
  2. Choose a specific, private label.“Passport validity” is clearer and safer than a full document number.
  3. Select the right timezone.Review the local send time, especially before travel or relocation.
  4. Choose intervals for your planning process. For example, 90, 30 and 7 days may be useful, but they are illustrative—not official deadlines.
  5. Review before saving.Check the date, timezone, email preview and every scheduled interval.
  6. Keep an independent backup.Email providers, devices and notification settings can fail; critical dates need another reminder.

STEP 04

Treat every document or status change as a fresh review.

Renewal, replacement, extension or a new official record may change the date you need to track. Return to the source, confirm the new date and meaning, then update the reminder. Archive a reminder that no longer represents a current record.

In DueNest, saving an edit cancels obsolete scheduled jobs and creates the updated schedule. Review the activity history after an important change, and keep the original record outside the reminder tool.

PRACTICAL QUESTIONS

Before you rely on a reminder.

Does DueNest calculate a passport, visa or work-authorization deadline?

No. DueNest schedules reminders from dates you enter. Confirm every date and requirement with the relevant authority or a qualified professional.

Do I need to upload a passport, visa or work-authorization document?

No. DueNest does not require document uploads. Use a short private label and enter only the date you have confirmed.

Is one reminder system enough for a consequential date?

No reminder channel can guarantee delivery. Keep a separate backup reminder and continue to rely on official records for the date itself.

When you have a date you can describe and verify, compare the DueNest Free and Pro limits. Free supports up to 3 active dates; Pro supports up to 50 for US$19 per month.
